So.... better get a thread started.

Last week I was helping unload the van of all the donated bikes we had just collected from a cellar in a Scarborough property, most of the bikes coming out were the usual low end rusty pieces of cr*p and then this was passed down for the scrap pile, I immediately said 'I'm having that!', couldnt believe it.... a Bromwich. Boss man came down and I asked him what he wanted for it considering it had a stuck seatpost, terrible paint, corroded in rack bolts and half a bottom bracket cup, he looked it up and down and said take it but get the rack off it for the shop please.

:D :D :D

Question for the people who know then, is there a Bromwich model lineup? weve all heard of the Cyclone but what is this? it has a forward facing seatclamp whereas the advert with the Cyclone on has a rear facing seatclamp. it has rear rack mounts but no eyelets front or rear for mudguards and only one set of bottle mounts so I dont think this is a touring build, shine some light guru's.

took 2 nights to get that seatpost out, some freeze-yer-nuts off for the bolts and the cyclo tool from work for the bracket cup.

Re: Bromwich

 have you decided on the colour? something new or redo the fade?

Look forward to see what you do with this, what size is it by the way?

Re:

I have a colour in mind but it wont be a fade I'm afraid, I simply dont have the funds for it and I'm not keen on the original colour anyways so this will not be one for the purists .... but I'm sure it will be nice all the same.

Sizewise, 16" c-t 12.5" c-c this is a tad small for me but good for the Brit collection.

Re: Bromwich

Nice rescue mate :) Brings back fond memories of my old Bromwich. Personally I like the fade but more important that it's saved and looked after.

I don't know a massive amount about the brand but don't recall there ever being a line-up as such. I think the Cyclone name was to help advertising and offer an alternative to the frames that the other UK builders were selling.

Re:

So, Slow build update.

Had the house to myself this morning and it was persisting it down outside so I moved base of operations to .... the living room

I finally found a full Mountain LX groupset on a donor bike, frame is an 1989 so I wanted to fit the mountain LX as it was only made for that year, pinched the parts and scrapped the frame (cracked head tube), only thing I needed was a front derailleur...... and turns out I had one all along so lucky me eh :) , headset is an old 105 but period correct, bars, grips and stem are ritchey force that I had in the shed not sure on era but they'll do, seatpost is SR and Avocet saddle is dated 1990.

As you can see, still original fade but it is in a bad state......

Enjoy
