Currently on holiday in Turkey, the hotel we are at has a really good Hamam (Turkish bath) so me and the mrs decide to treat ourselves and go for the full treatment.

Sauna - shower - steam room - Hamam (exfoliation and then soapy massage oo er mrs) - face mask - oil massage

Really enjoy the treatments. When it comes to the oil massage I walk into the treatment room and the guy looks me up and down and says, you're a cyclist, right?' turns out he was a masseuse for a top road race team in the 90's. He did say which team but it was just a list of foreign brand names, some of the team riders names did sound vaguely familiar.

He gives a fantastic massage and really knows his stuff. When it comes to my right shoulder he pauses, digs around and says 'have you recently broken your collarbone?' Not that I am aware of. He digs around again and finds one spot, puts pressure on it and I yelp with pain. Maybe he is right?

I had a big crash at the Thetford meet on 28th March, hurt my knee and bruised my shoulder but nothing too much. Maybe I should get it checked out when I get back to the UK on Sunday, it hasn't given me any problems since the accident.

How do you describe it to the hospital " a man was rubbing my neck and told me it's broken "

Well worth checking it out , a masseuse will know what he's talking about . I had a mate that was a bit handy on a bike ( pretty sure he was on the muddy fox team ) he had an off and broke his collar bone , didn't know of course until he had finished a motocross race and thought it felt a bit sore .

It is often referenced as being a particularly painful bit of your skeleton to break. I certainly knew when I broke mine as did any one else in the forrest of dean that day!

Get it checked out for sure!!

My brother broke his collarbone years ago, actually it was his girlfriend at the time who broke it for him, judo practice!! Lol!!

But he didn't know for a while, until one day he couldn't move his shoulder any more!!

So, yeah, go get it looked at asap!! :?

Get it checked out and then you'll probably have to rest that arm in a sling until the bone mends together.

Did my collar bone in several places at Glentress 5 or so years ago at the top of spooky wood. Walked both myself and my bike out in relative comfort but then passed out in the carpark at the bottom of the hill. Off work for 6 weeks, then light duties for a couple of months, still twinges in cold damp weather ( most of the year in Scotland  ).

Just had mine rebuilt

Get it x rayed at A&E. Must say, that given you were about to have a compot or borax and water of vitriol smoothed over yourself, it can't be that bad.
If it is a crack then they will likely advocate a sling. The thinking in the NHS is not to intervene if everything is inline, however, this is changing since some of "not intervening" can result in surgery too late and you may not have a good outcome.

Why were you riding in a Turkish bath?

You should be able to feel a little tender lump, probably midway along the collarbone if you broke it. TBH, no point in bothering anyone about it if it happened on 28th March!! At the time, you'd have been stuck in a sling for 6-8 weeks and moving your arm up above shoulder height would have been absolute agony.

I'd leave it, it'll be a pleasant surprise for your GP if you have a chest x-ray in the future and a chance to score valuable man points.... "I wasn't aware you had broken your clavicle Mr Borter?" "Pffft. I was so drunk I didn't even notice."
