British Eagle Touristique

Re:

There’s no markings on the rim ?
It’s a 32 spoke hole with eyelets , slightly round with a matt finish.

Well done...an absolutely cracking rebuild...love the baby blue on the head and seat tube... really makes it pop. :)
Just out of interest, it looks like your running 27's....do the cantilever brakes still reach with 700c's ? I'm thinking of doing a cantilever touring bike build and would like the greater tyre choice of 700's.

;) ;)
Go for it vcballbat , these are 700’s and do have a fair bit of clearance , mine could do with swapping the straddle cables form front to rear as you can see by the crimp .
Poptastic :)

Sorry missed that one  .... what I'm getting at is many of the cantilever frames I've been looking at are pre 80's and have been built for 27 inch HP's so would these still work with 700's... has anyone tried the swapover ?

Re:

That's very nice, but sooner or later you are going to get a call from the TA chainring orientation police ;)

It's very hard to drop a 27' to 700c with Canti's as much as it is with 700c to 650b which I have tried on my Mercian. It is easier and works better I think with a centrally mounted sidepull as the wheel will usually end up right level with the canti stud which means hard to get any decent leverage.

Ahh I think I see ? is it the chainring needs shifting round so the cut out is behind the arm rather than the bolt .
I have it logged in for next time if so ;) my rookie error .

Re:

Yeah think of all the trouble we've saved you... those chainring orientation police are tenacious and implacable... not that I know anybody like that myself.. of course.. :| :)
