BRING BACK FORK BOOTS!!

The 1994 MAG's The Ken mentions had Alu stanchions not steel.
Also they came fitted with boots only and the dust wiper where not fitted (normally).
That was also a anti stiction twaek at the time.
Mine are still working fine and only had the boots fitted. I've seen plenty of MAGs with no boots fitted that have stone chip marks on them :)

Of course forks vary.

Looking at the '96 Manitou catalogue in the Archive above it says 'boots factory fitted as standard to reduce wear and ease maintenance...' - and they come in four colours...

Boots just collect and hide the dirt and grime from everyday riding....

no they keep the dirt out, that's the point, mine are minty underneath and they were last cleaned 4 years ago. My bombers which don't have them need cleaned after every ride.

Meh....clean your bike up after every ride, perform maintenance, change out elastomers as needed, and the boots become nothing more then fugly eye candy that deludes one to think his forks are "protected" when using them. My daughter's bike has 2001 SX-R's sans boots, and that have never been maintained properly, and they are still going strong. To each his own. ;)
