I ride front left and always have done. My excuse is that I can brake better and more efficiently with a front brake while signalling right - but the real reason is that all my boyhood Pro cyclist heroes (Van Looy, Anquetil, Robinson etc.) all did it that way.
It used to be easy to change sides but nowadays with concealed cables it's a PITA!
