Re:

I'm with keithglos. Its how mine and my kids bikes are set up and how I've explained it to them.

As with a car a bike front brake is usually more effective than the rear. Riding through traffic I would prefer to be able to signal with the right hand and still have some braking. Our bikes were always set up front brake on left since early post war.

Absolutely agree with Keith. Braking from the tops on drop bars - which you probably would be if indicating with the right hand - it would be very hard to apply sufficient pressure to create a wheel lock. I've never done it and have always ridden with left hand front for this reason. The fact that all my continental heroes also did it was a bonus! My MTB's are also set up this way.

I wonder how many pages we'll get out of this topic this time round.............................. ;)

Probably not a lot more as we are not going to agree on this one. If there are a lot more pages they will only be similar disagreement. Paddington do as you wish sir.Either way will be right for some and wrong for others

Thing is no one is reporting any serious mishaps and they would if they had had one so it would seem its more a matter of what you feel right with. Road riding is full of roady law and it often depends on whose law book you learned from at the start of your riding days. Thats why we are all right and everyone else is wrong(especially those who dont agree with me )Whoops!

THis one will cause discussion!!

I always have the rear on the right. The cables have a much more natural runs.

Me too, for this very reason. All my bikes are set up this way

;)
