boy"O"boy's 1991 Raleigh Dynatech Endeavour x2!!

Well done, that is absolutely gorgeous, both of your Endeavours are 😍
Wish my Mission was in that condition but then again I wouldn't have taken it to Center parcs if it was mint. 🙂

So, after a repaint of the bars (baked in the oven at home 😬👀) the Campagnolo brake levers and shifters were ready to install.
The brakes as usual were a joy to set up. The feel and spring of them are very positive. These weren't NOS this time like Endeavour #1 but look great...especially in the light grey.
The shifters were slightly more problematic due to their reverse set-up but my main problem was the cable ferrules supplied in a jagwire set wouldn't seat in the barrel adjusters.....I needed stepped ones for this to work. The shimano cable stop into the shifter wasn't great either so I ordered some Campagnolo specific ones.
The final problem was the rear mech is missing it's barrel adjuster.
Altogether, the gear shifts now work but some tweaking needed. I've got a feeling the shifters are 7spd specific....but my rear cassette is an 8spd Centaur one.

Here's where I'm at now...
The wet weather meant I could photograph both Endeavours together....that's to come.

The colour coded stem works well, but I also have the flexstem(s) I'd like to give a go.
The yellow toestraps were an experiment to match the yellow part of the decals.....unsure as yet whether they are staying, but overall pleased with how this resto has turned out.

Better pics and build spec to follow.

In the meantime.....

Looks absolutely magical mate
Really really beautifully done - and I must say the stem looks so nice

I also noticed the Tin Tin posters and are they a collection of matchbox cars? Love it

Cheers Dave.
Yeah...I probably won't ride the Endeavours much. High and dry days if I do, so it's nice to see your Mission getting used as it should.
I've just got myself another "O" that's going to be a rider. A '89 Stumpjumper Comp and 2001 Cannondale F700 that are my go to riders + 1x modern + 1x Road.

Cheers Ibbz.
Thanks for you support and encouragement all the way through this project. It's appreciated 😎
Will try the flexstem but the simplicity of the colour coded stem actually suits this quite well.
I was also interested to see what it would look like after RBG mentioned he wondered why they didn't colour code the flexstem at the factory.

Yeah....that's some of my other collections of stuff in the back ground! Always loved the TinTin books as a kid and have had these A2 posters for years. Different covers in posters are scattered all around the house!
The cars? - I'm a massive Scalextric fan! These are my collection of cossies, M3's, group B rally cars, and Mk 1 escorts. I usually aim to collect every livery they issue for these models. I also have some duplicates that Me and the kids use.

Hoping to get more pics this weekend of the Endeavours.

Cheers.

Wonderful wonderful bikes and dedicated loving builds
Can’t decide whether I like it with the flex stem or without! But the yellow straps sure add some panache!

Just noticed you've edited this Ibbz!!

It's great to see another Endeavour has finally surfaced! Anyone else got one out there that is so far unknown/ unseen?

With KondratievsBike's blessing, here's the pics from his F/S added here for prosperity.

Also….with it's Odyssey sibling.

Cheers all.
Enjoy

Looks like I'm a bit late to the party, BUT, I still have my original Endeavour bought new in 92/93 for a discounted price of £750 from the Raleigh shop on the Fountain Roundabout, Chester - sadly gone now. Full Campag spec with Thor rims. I did swap out the twist shifters for Thumb shifters after a crash when I couldn't change gears to get home with a knackered wrist. Swapped out the original bars for a wider zoom setup and took off the Girvin flexstem - but think I have both hanging around somewhere - might just have to replace them and get it back to original - less the twist grips. Currently running on Avocet Cross tyres (not sure there is even such a thing anymore). You've inspired me boy"O" I was seriously considering getting a new bike - but why would I do that when I have such a beautiful retro-machine already!

Welcome Sav.

You've come to the right place!
As this is the go to thread for the Raleigh Dynatech Endeavour....I'll be the 1st in saying, you've got to Add some pics!
Feel free to add them here if you don't want to start a new thread.
@ibbz put it out there....but if there were other Raleigh Endeavour's out there, they were languishing out there waiting to be seen. His info from bikemeister2000 was that a handful of Raleigh Endeavours were produced for Raleigh's 5 star dealers. Retail when launched was £1395 and it seems very few were sold.

Great to hear you still have yours from 1992/93
My Endeavour #2 has the thumb shifters swap out the same as yours....to be honest, the Bullet shifters really are as bad as the MBi review suggests. Great to see you've got plans to get yours sorted as a retro ready classic!
It's a very rare beast you've got there. Glad you've taken inspiration from mine.

If I can be of help, message me via PM or add to the thread here.

All the best.
