I feel the pain - had to source a 31.6 for my San Andreas!

I solved the same (Alpinestars Cro Mega DX) problem using a shim.

I've no problem with shims, but sometimes, only the right size will do

I would do it now too... but if i remember correctly we never used shims back in the day. And yeah: the Alpinestars needs a XT seatpost. It would sure take it to the next level.. at least w/ the seatpost fetishists as i am one of them.
That Astars is my vote; although there are "better" bikes here in the competition it exerts a weird attraction in my soul.

No shims? I got my first Use seatpost back in 1992 and they used shims all the way.
