Re:

sovereign's 1987 Rocky Mountain Thunderbolt

Bought the frame here on RBUK 2 years ago and luckily found a fillet brazed Rocky Mountain fork in Germany, still searching for an original stem.

Built up with complete first XT group after Deer Head, American Classic seatpost, Turbo, Duro Rims and IRC X1.

Re:

They're all a bit before my era of interest, but never the less some VERY nice entry's !
It's also good to see something a little different, I'm guessing most of them are 25yrs+ old

The photo above^^ is spot on and allows you to appreciate the bike, others pic's seem a little too arty and the subject is lost, which is shame since most of the entry's are early pioneers, well before we got into the boom years of the early to mid 90's and a large degree of standardisation/trends.
(I'm sure someone will correct me on the latter but to a layman there is a definite time line/transition between the late 80's and the early 90's, just as there was again in 1997/199:cool:

anyway thanks for taking the time to enter guys :D its a joy to follow this thread

30+. A different bias, I always think a bike looks better photographed outside on a trail as opposed to against a wall. It also attracts the attention of those who need to know a bike is ridden. Fortunately build threads show many more close ups. 80's vintage bikes are pretty sleek and clean uncluttered by early suspension issues that came a few years down the road.

Re:

Wow, thought this month was going to be an easy pic, untill those last bikes came in. Now it's going to be hard to pick a favourite. Really love those rockies...
