Can we have a exemption to the usual 'bike can only be entered once' this month as there are some real worthy BOTMs in here that may not get a look in with that beautiful C-26. The effort involved in the Timmis bike or the Specialized are worth of a re-entry into the next months vote surely - maybe the 2nd placed bike gets to go into the next months vote (of course I am assuming that the Yeti might win)?

Sorry my friend, I disagree. By that reckoning we should just give the BOTM award to the C-26 now and not have the vote.

Other worthy winners have missed out on the coveted title either due to stronger competition or somewhat odd public voting. This isn't sour grapes by the way, none of my builds have ever even been close

I think everyone should enter and lets see where the votes go. Let's face it, of you even get one vote against the C-26 you should consider that an immense honour (unless you are sort of person that votes for their own build  ).

There are always the 'special edition' BOTM's where people get to re-enter previous builds.

Long live BOTM and lets see the winning standard continue to rise (although this month will be out of trend, as i'm unsure how anything could be better) :D

Wow, now I was so on for that Raleigh for bringing back so many memories but that C-26 is an absolute blow away!

If that Yeti does not win I will shave off my hair, paint myself orange, stick a flower up my ass and run down the high street singing ' Fishcakes are here to stay' I bet it gets over 70% of the vote.

Si

You may have inadvertantly opened the voting up:

Vote Yeti if you don't want to see Si shave off his hair, paint himself orange, stick a flower up his ass and run down the high street singing ' Fishcakes are here to stay'

Vote anything else if you do!

I agree, the Yeti hasn't won until the votes are counted and there have been some odd results in the past. Who knows what else is lurking out there...

I totally agree in so many ways but am concerned that this may leave this month as a barren month (despite the 10 or so entrants) as more and more people may say 'sod this, I'll leave it for next month'.

As for the specials, can you imagine Sinnetts dissapointment when the Special themes get announced:

1) This month's special is for rare team replica bikes... or
2) This months special is for bonded/lugged bikes

Amey's C-26 has ruined it!!

Replica, non-TIG welded or even Raleigh are all great ideas for specials ;)

But in two counts there wouldn't the C26 do rather well also....

Indeed, but it is simply the best retrobike we've seen. You seem to want to construct scenarios where it won't win?

As I said, there are some great bikes that don't win. The Tinker rep didn't win BOTM, it won't win BOTY and it wouldn't win in a replica special... That doesn't mean it isn't one the most impressive builds any of us has seen. The Raleigh may suffer a similar fate, but that doesn't stop all of us enjoying the story and I really hope it doesn't detract from the owners pleasure either.

Not at all, what I was trying to say is that it would win everything it enters, it's a stunning bike, amazing in everyway. But I just pity the guys who enetered having put their hearts and souls into their builds only to then find they are up against the top trump of all bikes. The point I was trying to humorously make about the specials was that if that Raleigh went in a Replica special it would lose against the C-26, if it went into a bonded special, it would lose against the C-26!! Not constructing any scenarios, I think you may have missed my point.

Anyhoo, I reckon this is getting too far off topic and we should let this thread go back to nominations before we take up too much space :D :D

No, I got it Pete - that's why I added a Raleigh category so that my point would have some validity in light of your joke :)

Bottom line, I don't think we should change the rules because of the C-26. As the Tinker rep (and others) proves, really great bikes often don't win; that's part of the sport.

And anyway, we've been way more on topic than usual
