Bontrager Race Lite

Sorry, they're all on bikes. 😬

Avid cantis 🤔 they're lightweight, look great, pretty easy to adjust and with the ultimate levers have the lightest lever feel of any brake I've felt. They work fine but they're not outstanding, might be better with a servowave/power control lever but not tried it yet. I'm glad I own them but for what they go for these days I don't think it's worth it. Shimano with a servowave work better and a Dia-compe 987/SS7 combo works just as well at a fraction of the price. Also there's the cracking thing as you obviously know.
Sometimes though you just have to have stuff! 😂
Just remembered seeing your titanium Bonty!! Looking to get some plates remade for the cantis or they may just be fine cracked? Are you sure about the seatpost situation

You will enjoy the project!
Mine had hashed powder coating so had it re-done in metallic sparkle green (retro bike nerd party foul - no big deal).
Used enduro bars from a 72 Honda and a mash of parts (switchblade fork - not correct fork rake). Wheelies for days!
In the states? Need some parts?
Good skill - a go ride the dang thing (it’s a tool, not a trophy!).

If it's just the little face plates on the pad holders they should work fine, they're just for looks really, I had a set with them missing and they worked.
If I change my mind on a seatpost I'll let you know. :)

Oh really, that's great to know thanks...i will put them back on the bike! Decided to keep it 100% catalogue original so that's now complete. Have a kona to play around with.

That would be great if you would let me know if one comes available!

Thanks

Thanks to @al I have a new fork, a 97 Judy in excellent condition. The FSX was always going to end up back on the Ti Lite and yellow SLs weren't really working for me on this.
I'm intending to fit ESP shifters and mech. Will get some carbon brake boosters from Fibrelyte and maybe change the decals to off white panels with red lettering to better match the fork. Then we're done, till we're not! 😁 _20250106_135844.JPG _20250106_135907.JPG

Somewhere in the last couple of weeks, the idea of a Shimano free build hit me.
Front mech changed to Sram 9.0 (exactly the same as the Sachs Centura I already had 🤦‍♂️) , Pace outer, Onza Buzzsaw middle and inner rings and Sachs chain added. Along with Onza pedals.
The only thing left is the cassette.
I think 🤔 my options for that from around 96 are Real, Goldtec and SRP/Tioga all of which are probably not the easiest to find in good nick or cheap. If anyone can think of anything different, let me know.
Sachs 8-speed had 5mm spacing rather than 4.8mm, they did change it but not till later, so that's out.
I could just buy a modern Sram but where's the fun in that. 😁 _20250118_092908.JPG _20250118_092933.JPG _20250118_093052.JPG DSC_1684.JPG
