they're lightweight, look great, pretty easy to adjust and with the ultimate levers have the lightest lever feel of any brake I've felt. They work fine but they're not outstanding, might be better with a servowave/power control lever but not tried it yet. I'm glad I own them but for what they go for these days I don't think it's worth it. Shimano with a servowave work better and a Dia-compe 987/SS7 combo works just as well at a fraction of the price. Also there's the cracking thing as you obviously know.
Sometimes though you just have to have stuff!
