I don't think they get the love they deserve.
Maybe it was the lack of flash?

Trek took over, reduced the quality and detail, then turned the brand into fairly pointless midrange oe kit imo, spoiling the history and lowering the value of the genuine frames - meaning you get a fantastic deal!

I stole the Maguras for the Fisher so I've fitted XTR V's and shifters/mechs. I have a titanium Titec post on the way, just need to track down some titanium Flat-trackers that won't cost a kidney and eventually when I've saved up some more a set of King/Race Lite wheels.

Xtr brakes look great!
I remember chunky maguras being popular for trials and on bombhole bikes, but round us they were rarely fitted on a lightweight xc bike. Even in the last days of Cantilever - stopping just wasn't important for the racing snakes, and this is a snakey piece

I have a few Bontys, I think the Maguras were just a subconscious effort to do things differently on each of them! I do like them a lot once the set up faff is out of the way. These are the best of the V's though in my opinion.
