was changing the seals on my bomber z4's (2001 30mm stantions)and by accident i found that the hoselock thingy is the right size to install them with out damage!!sweet as!!

If you have a 1/2 inch socket set, I would expect one of the larger sockets would do the job too, being metal they should not break whereas the plastic hozelock thing might.

Sockets can also be used to press bearings in and out.

indeed but the seal is quite soft and the use of plastic wouldnt scratch or damage anything unlike steel,just a lucky size too,well for me it was.

Just wanted to bump this tip - I fancy trying this next time I put oil seals in a Bomber! Will take photos ....

Ha! Great find. I've been using a split black PVC tube for the 30mm & 32mm, had a rockshox tool for 35&36 and used a shop vac plastic extension for some 38&40's.

Pedros dh tire lever is my favorite remover.
