Bob's Yo...back from dreary land

cheers guys, the restos are fun to work on because it gives me great pleasure to see a classic, loved frame given a new life.

Wish I had more time...got a few of my own I'd like to do someday ;)

Aw man that Gulf paint is to die for!

I need to get my Potts out to you for paint.

Great stuff Rody!

It's winter and I'm itching for a project. The beautiful Gulf Yo' has been hanging on a wall like artwork since Rody sent it back to me. It's so beautiful that I haven't had the heart to actually build and ride it. But, a fellow vintage enthusiast has shown me the error of my ways and I would like to build it now. No, I won't beat it off road too much. But, I will ride it.

The question - What would be a good build? I have a Synchros seat stem, XC Pro Crank, Magura Tomac Edition neon orange brakes, and that's really about it as far as era appropriate stuff. I'm willing to start over, but I would like to get some guidance on what would be appropriate for a bike like this. My focus lately has been motorcycles, so any help I can get here will be greatly appreciated.

One thing I'm considering - Ditching the inner and outer rings on the XC Pro and just running the middle ring on the outer mount ala single speed conversion, but then using a Dura Ace in back. Thoughts? Opinions.

TIA
