Black or Silver spokes

Depends on hubs too.

Black rims, silver spokes, silver hub works.

Black rims, black spokes, silver hub positively ugly,

Black rims, silver spokes, black hub I also think is not quite unless you really do aesthetic homework with the rest of the bike.

Silver rims, black spokes, black hubs can sort of work but again depends on the complete picture.

Silver rims, black spokes, silver hubs, potentially a place for it. But in general no.

The problem is that chrome silver matches very little. It's hard without going into very retro and vintage when doing resto-mods IMHO.

Always silver DT... always. But on every other factor, anything's fair game as long as it matched either the grips, the bottle bolts or the QR. Them's the rules. That said, my fixie front is an orange rim / black spoke / snowflake combo on a Sturmey hub. People actively tut at it.

Nearly did heat-treated Ti rainbow spokes once. But that's a bit spicy, even for me.
