Billy bargain Sunns

I bought one of them:) The Exact Un, I think it’s probably 98/99. These were the ad pics. Fingers crossed it’s as good as I think. Anyone here buy the other one?

Nice! It's a '99, last year of the 'real' Sunns :) These are great, frame was handmade in the St. Gaudens factory in France. The forks look like they need a service but very do-able

Good man @markjohnson76 - I'm looking forward you ship it back to France to me where it belongs. :p

Seriously, just had to be picked up with little hesitation at that price. Pair of Crossmax too worth the bike alone. I'm not sure the later ones had the model name stamped under the BB. Absolutely top notch bikes. The "UN" means "1" - ie. the top in their model range. The Euro equivalent of Kona and with some proper pedigree.

The other one will be snapped up pronto - includes a Middleburn 3 arm crank and handbuilt wheels 🥰

:) were these the only handbuilt frames? I read the models below were maybe made in Taiwan?

The forks do need some air but fortunately they came with all the instructions, pump and two more spare sets of forks:)

Thanks for the links! Great info. I’ll put some pics of it here later. It’s in incredible condition. Came with spare forks as well as all the instructions, guarantees, handbook, brochure and sales receipt! And that wired little blue man squeeze horn.

Woow, that's a hell of a catch. My brother raced for the Sunn satelite team in 1997-1998 and I really adored these bikes. He had an Exact like this one as "second bike" (his first was an Exact Ti) so I got the chance to ride it from time to time. Great bikes.

The top of the range MTB, road and BMX frames were made in France, with the exception of the Morati-made titanium frames, so in 1999 that was the Exact and Radical Plus MTBs, Quadrimax road bike and the Ridd Max BMXs. The others were made in Taiwan.
Yours look in great condition, still has the original Sunn branded chainrings, and two spare forks makes it even more of a bargain!
The "weird little blue man squeeze horn" is Mr Patate. If you don't want him I would be interested in buying him....

I only just noticed the sun rings! Good to see them. It doesn’t look like it hard much use at all judging by them. If I do sell the Mr Patate I’ll let you know, doubt I’ll ever put it on the bike…
