I had a Hei Hei with XTR 950 and rigid Ti forks at 19.2lbs.

The Explosif I`m building atm should be around 21lbs with rigid P2s.
Frame is 4.2lbs.

The Fire Mountain I had weighted in at 23.1lbs with mostly XT 739 and SID forks.
Frame was 5.9 lbs :shock:

I weighed my 1989 Fire Mountain, which is ugraded with alloy bars and XT kit and it came in at 32 lbs the tyres are a KILO each so I have bought some re-issue kevlar Porcupines which should shed about 7-800g or nearly 2lbs from that weight.

My crappy 1992 Orange Prestige with cheap kit and a set of RC35 forks came in at 26.5 lbs, which I thought was damn good for £50!

.....At the other end of the scale my Schwinn Excelsior is just over 37lbs which I'm told is pretty weight weenietastic for a Klunker......

my goal on this 40/41 excelsior badged dx was to get it under 30 pounds with no obviously 'modern' parts. of course sub-30 pretty much rules out gears or drums
