Bike snobbery - or is it?

Sounds pretty much like just about every other full suss alloy framed bike from the same period - regardless of price...

not a bso then dude, that kinda sums manitous, kliens pace etc as bso's too. bsos are shit cheap bikes sold to make a quick buck. look like bikes but dont ride like one.m trek rides well, but to be fair, every bike i sling my leg over does ;)
lol

I thought bso means...or does to me anyway....cheap low end crap......after all without badly designed higher end and over priced design fault rides nothing would have progressed would it....

Indeed a gorgeous bike to look at - but is also the very definition of the word 'fragile...'

Not if it's too big for you to ride!

My point was regarding bike snobbery, and the fact that it should not be associated with price, shit bikes can be at any price.

And no, the characteristics of the trek FS were not typical of all FS of the time, but it was typical of a bike rushed out to get on the FS bandwagon without proper testing. Many FS bikes at the time were solid, dependable performers. The Manitou design lasted for many, many years. Same time there was the boulder gazelle, the fisher RS1, the proflex, amp Horst link bikes, the San Andreas - all bikes that influence others for the next 15-20 years. The trek was an interesting design but it only contribution was as a 'don't do it this way' bike

But this is away from the point that is shit bikes come in all flavours and colours and aren't always cheap.

what a load of crap !!
okay.. you dont want loads of shit bikes on here... but i really want a NOS raleigh lizard and id like to think if i posted it on here a few people would think it was cool !! I know it was crap back in the day... and its even crapper now.. but i still want one.

Ive sold all my expensive retro bikes... as i realised how much money i wasted on them... yep i said that... wasted.... i realised that three grands worth of retro bikes/parts in the corner of the room was stupid!! so my next build is going to be a cannondale for a couple of hundred quid.

it just depends upon your definition... and allthough i dont post on here that much anymore... i havnt noticed loads of bso bikes being shown...
or have i just missed them all ?
lgf... feel free to pm me some links to these bso bikes... and i will let you know what i reakon !!

im not a snob.. im happy to look at any bike that someone has taken the trouble to post on here. :D
