Simply my opinion but modern tyres on retro bikes just ruins the look.

Agreed. Was about to cast vote on the one I was sure on, but have been put off by the tyres Annoying that I can be swayed by something so trivial.

Love the Bianchi but had to go another direction. The RTS is just to awesome

I agree with this. I understand modern tyres make sense for a regular rider but even just having a couple of pairs of period tyres for botm is a good idea

I don't mind modern tyres if they have a retro aesthetic, but bikes with massive tyre logo's, the wrong shade of brown/tan or anything over 2.1" don't usually get my vote.

^ This. Smoke/Dart reissue, yes. Billy Bonkers etc, no. Just for BOTM though, riding is a different story.

So, encouragement to enter a BIKE OTM with unrideable but period tyres. IMO that renders it Work-of-art OTM. Not a bike.

Not exactly... you can buy retro looking new tyres.

BTW - Perhaps this is a discussion for another thread, sorry to the people entering BOTM.

My last entry was my 89 Brodie (I think), which has period Fisher Fattrax tyres fitted. It's a rider but only on local, sub 10 mile routes, and I ride it knowing that the tyres are not in the best shape. If I was riding it more regularly, or over longer distances, I would fit some more modern rubber. I do consider it a work of art, but it's definitely also a bike.
