And I like the pretty colours.

My personal critique on things I see out of place or I would dock points for.
Giom6's Yates - Points off for a repaint. They're only original once. Cables need to be tucked, housing looks long. That kink in the chain tells me its a garage queen/wall hanger. Plastic ferrules. Front QR on the wrong side....which would explain why the front Dart tire is on backwards./quote]
Whatever! I like it and that's all that matters!
Just for the record, the kink had been removed, wheel is the right way round and and as I wanted to use it I went with new XTR cables hence the plastic ferrules! The repainted was done because I wanted it to be the best it could, it wasn't good the condition it was in...
If it makes any difference I'll get some new pictures up :x
Depends on how/where they're stored...I've run across some pretty old tires that seemed just as fresh and pliable as when they were new...stored somewhere cool and dark and they'll last a while...Mike Muz 67":1n4by5xn said:Surely older bikes won't be completely period correct , simply because you cannot get tyres from that period you could trust not to fail when you ride it . Even nos tyres . I'm open to correction on this theory . Just thought that to be the case .
Thanks . Worth remembering. However , unless you've had them from new , how will you know how they've been stored when you buy them ?sho220":26ytjdup said:Depends on how/where they're stored...I've run across some pretty old tires that seemed just as fresh and pliable as when they were new...stored somewhere cool and dark and they'll last a while...Mike Muz 67":26ytjdup said:Surely older bikes won't be completely period correct , simply because you cannot get tyres from that period you could trust not to fail when you ride it . UV light is definitely a killer...you can usually tell because the sidewalls (especially any labels/logos) will look faded. And any cracking is obviously a bad sign...and if they have a generally dry look to them...not the kind of greasy look new tires have...Mike Muz 67":9ev9v6n0 said:Thanks . Worth remembering. Maybe I should get some new tyres today , so I can enter a bike -so to speak- in 2050 Thinking ahead !
