"The color Red" ??? Seriously? Since when can you sue someone for using a color?
I reckon Ferrari has been around longer than Specia ... Spes ... sod it, I'm not writing that name anymore.

Cadbury's tried to get their trademark purple colour legally recognised as "theirs" a while ago, but it fell flat. Conversely, "JCB Yellow" is apparently a recognised shade in its own right in the paint trade, although not trademarked by JCB themselves.

'JCB Yellow' is merely a name for RAL 1007.

Izzunt Bianchi's 'Celeste Blue' trademarked?

I don't think so - I've seen a few small UK builders offer frames in that hue. However, the whole "can you trademark a colour?" business is also being discussed over on Bikeradar; one poster there mentioned that Heinz trademarked the blue colour used on their baked bean labels. Is that true?

Actually, thinking about that's given me the idea to paint my FS frame up in British Rail colours. Some RAL5020 and a suitable yellow on't swingarm, plus a couple of BR logos, and it could be evocative of this:

Cool colour scheme though so go for it !

We're veering OT here, but railway colour schemes could be an area well worth plundering for paint jobs - some of the older ones could work well for touring bikes (Great Western green with orange/black/orange lug lining, anyone?).
