Best retro FS frame?

How about this Manitou FS I found in the shed ?
Nice! Sweet find! By far the best looking full suspension bike ever. (cracking issues aside, is yours still intact in the headtube area?)
It's also the only full suspension bike I own. More of a hardtail kind of guy but I'll make an exception for the Manitou FS.

manitou FS or DH 1996

cannondale raven II is also a good bike with a good shock with platform damping

I have ride with both bike's for a few years
I don't recommend a proflex 955 from 1995
I had broken 4 times a frame within a year, the bold of the rear suspension always broke off
and with the rear end getting lose it torse the front frame ....
also ride with the first generation of cannondale jekyll, not a bad bike if you got a lefty in front, not a fatty
I have ride with a few fully's ;-)
from 1995 till now

Re:

My Manitou went throu a season on the world cup circuit before I got it,and a good 4 years on the North shore before I got my Clark-Kent..No cracks,

Another vote for the Heckler or Marin. I've had two Marin FRSs and they are superb and very affordable bikes. Heckler if you've got loadsa cash, Marin if you are less fortunate, but they honestly are not a poor second. I#d have another in a heartbeat if I could.

Proflex! Still a capable xc machine...

Nice bike but if you're going to have a Proflex it's got to have the Girvins for authenticity, however Henrik Djernis as featured in your photo actually rode with the Girvins locked out replacing the elastomer with a chunk of metal because they were basically crap!!

I new someone who new someone else who once said that Girvins were crap.... so they must be. Bla bla Same old same old.
Linkage forks may not be for everyone, but if maintained and set up properly they are an excellent short travel xc fork. You can dare to be a little bit different or just get the same as just about every other front suspension out there.
