Best ever cycling related purchase?

Buffalo top. Purchased early '90s and still working well. Looks like you're wearing a nappy with the crotch-warmer in place but I'm too snug to care.

Damn sweet! :D

A dozen 'Ron Kitching' Cyclist Training Diaries bought in a shop clearance for a tenner in about 1990. Best thing I ever did in terms of race results.

Waterproof shorts, seriously, treat yourselves!

My beloved Ibis Alibi - thirteen years & a month gone and I still stop to stare at it regularly, it's such a special frame  It'll always be the one I keep

Magura rim brakes in 1998: never needed any maintenance since apart from snapping in some new pads.

The other one would be my Dawes (retro) mtb tandem. Cycling with my kids is fab.

Most bargainous I guess was a Cinelli Super Corsa for 100eu in Amsterdam last year; but my fave purchase was one of the first ProFlex 955 frame and fork sets to arrive in the UK (from Stif) BiTD - boy was I excited and smug when that box arrived! Fond memories of my first Californian imported 'retrobike' - a first generation Nishiki Alien for less than $100... :)

Best purchase ever is my Rohloff hub(s  ),

best buy for trade was a box of 30!! Tange Switchblade prestiges for 100€ ;)

.

Mine would have to be my first retro related purchase :D
A Stumpie M2 frame and a mint Proflex 856 frame for £40 the pair :D
