It may be costly, it might have bought plenty of pleasure, it could have been acquired for buttons, but what was your best ever cycling related purchase?

[Note: define 'best ever' as you will]

replacing the rigid fork on my raleigh for a nice suspension one.. made my xc experience soo much better.

Just bagged myself a sweet set of 200GS thumshifters and a matching 200GS rear mech.

I just hope they arrive in time for the Turkey Twizzler...

I bought a nice Jack Wolfskin lightweight cycling jacket a few years ago. Windproof front and a lightweight fleece back with pockets.

It got use on the bike, the golf course, hillwalking and general wandering about for years. Sadly it was in the back of my car when it was stolen.

Not a glamorous purchase but got any times the value of what I paid or it over the course of around 10 years.

getting my yo eddy frame and forks delivered, was my dream bike and could not believe that I had one in the house- still nip out to the garage to sneak a look- when the yellow is in need of repair will complete the process and get her aqua faded

My best ever was a week after buying my first bike after 10 years not riding and finding this great site. I decided that my new 1994 proflex needed some period correct tyres so hit the phone book and within half an hour had ten pairs of butterscotch panaracers winging their way to me for a price I'm too embarrassed to admit to here  Had no idea what they were worth but sold half of them on fleabay when I found out.

Of course I can't repeat that fluke no matter how hard I try. seems when I placed an order for another ten the bike shop owner had seen the light and refused to sell them to me... not all too friendly either "Some bastard has been selling them on ebay" were his exact words

Oh well, kept a few pairs for future use and for a while there I was able to brag to the better half that my bikes owed me exactly nothing but with the steady flow of little parcels turning up at the front door I think I have squeezed that one for all it's worth.

My De Rosa.

Bought for well under half-price from the distributor. Intended to be second bike after my Lemond, but after the first ride was so impressed with the handling and comfort that the Lemond got stripped and the De Rosa became my main bike. I rode 110 miles to my wedding on it.....

back in 92 buying my first Trimble. Then in 2008 buying my custom painted Trimble from the bay when really i shouldn't have as at the time that was all the money i had and mean't i had to live on a over draft for a few months

The helmet :D :D , after getting knocked off my bike by a bus driver
