Shimano Cables are cheap if you buy them separately from a real bike shop.
Just ask.
The packaged sets are at least twice the price trade.
Clarkes is ok as budget cable though.

Ebay source for NOS jagwire: https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/jackybicycleparts?_trksid=p4429486.m3561.l170197 this trader is on ali cloud too and has mix of China + UK stock - I haven't seen this quality/retro cables anywhere else ( all the usual fixie bike specialists have inferior cables IMHO) and I spent a long time searching recently.
If you need really cheap and cheerful , check out the clearance section on both Frasers website (https://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/searchresults?descriptionfilter=brake cable ) which is essentially Evans surplus stock at discounted prices and MerlinCycles.co.uk sale/clearance for some reduced Shimano etc. bankruptbikes also have some NOS Campag low friction kits at a very reasonable price if you need road cables
