That crimping can be an issue but what I did is put some small plugs in there and it took care of it quite handily. Bigger problem is the little lozenges that clamp onto the bar can crack over time. Just talked to a machinist where I work the other day and he is making me some more, but then again we are talking about an old part that in my case is used on a daily basis.
The great thing about the left hand ones is how smooth they are all over. The ones on the right have fewer uncomfortable bits than most bar ends but not as much as the left hand ones.
