Banned user

When someone has this thing that says 'Banned user' under their nickname, what does it mean? Are they banned because they didn't respect the forums rules or ripped someone off, or is it some kind of joke?

Well i wouldnt say that[not exactly ]

Like all forums with a buy/sell section ,we attract the poor of heart

Very, very few indeed.....and those that deserve to get banned, even fewer still.
Also remember there are some very decent people who have requested to have their accounts closed...with the only administrative option to closing their account is to ban them. Off the top of my head I can think of Guybe and oldschoolpete...two of the nicest and honest people you could meet.

With regards to "Banned user" tag,as you can properly see I've only very recently joined but the day after I'd registered I was banned for sending Spam in my private messages ???????? As I'd,at that time only sent 4/5 messages to 2 people,I was and still am puzzled how I was supposed to have sent Spam,
I contacted the moderator and as requested,explained what I had done and was then reinstated with an instruction to be more careful when I next sent private messages.
Obviously I had upset someone but I never saw any copy of the actual Spam that I'd supposedly sent so I'd say that yes possibly some people do sometimes receive the "Banned user" tag.

Hi Mick.
It sounds more like a software protection thing on the forum set-up rather than a concious decision to ban you. For example, new members need a minimum amount of posts before they can submit pictures, as a form of anti-spam protection. I suspect that for the same reason, user accounts which send a 'disproportionate' amount of PM's when first set up, may trigger anti-spam alarms, hence your initial ban.
It's happened before due to unscrupulous spammers joining up specifically to sell cheap knock off Nikes etc...

In your case, I wouldn't worry too much about it as it seems more a case of "Computer says No" rather than anything personal against you.

Welcome then to what Harryburgundy correctly points out to be a thoroughly decent place based on the vast majority of members.
