Thought I'd start this ,and will get loads of stick for it

In anticipation of this ........MacRetro idea........'.Methinks an upgrade a BSO comp might be fun. Get something heavy and rubbish in the frame dept. then fit it with nice kit, ride and photo it and write a wee report on it and whether you think it has been notably improved or not '.................

So I reckon the worst bso you can find up to 1997 but worthless, not Reynolds steel,ally acceptable ,
before and after piccys just 2 if poss what do you think ?

May I suggest a Trek 800? Hi-Ten frame, proper 80s geometry even at the end of the 90s. Easily 30+ lbs.

I THINK IT IS A 19 INCH FRAME AND THE WHEEL SIZE IS ABOUT 22 INCHES.

Surely the 22inch wheels make it a more desirable purchase?

I'm in the process of doing the same with a 1992 Raleigh amazon. So far it's only got a better saddle, deore chain set and un53 and deore front mech though. I'm growing strangely fond of it. Might take a photo this weekend.
