B is for Beautiful..... Build start pics page 4

been in the painting & decorating business a long time and i've worked with and watched a lot of old timers who can do the marbling and wood finishes with their eyes closed.
it looks to me like the lighter coat has been applied, left to dry and then a second, darker colour is added.while it's still wet the paint is 'bagged'.i've seen it done different ways,
clingfilm, scrunched up and wrapped around not too tightly and left to dry before removing.
dabbing with loosely scrunched up rags
flogged with a long, soft bristled brush
even a combination of the above works but matching it spot on would be extremely difficult without the two colours used originally.
sorry not much use

why not ask resident RB painter jonrock? he's mastered Klein, perhaps he needs a new challenge? ;)

I've seen a bike painted like that before, but no idea what it was or anything?!
The Ritchey stem in the picture is stupidely light, around 130 grams! I have the same one.

Just to add that this look has been used on custom cars for years and that it can use a black or silver base coat depending on the desired finish. I have heard of people using scrunched up carrier bags to get that effect on the second colour. It'll also need lots of lacquer on top to get it nice and shiny.

BITSA?

:p

but in seriousness, looks great. nice fabrication details, clearly built by a craftsman.

FTW? steel bike looks like made from wood... lmafo.. i kept my mouth wide open when i saw this paintwork.. could be more precise to be honest, but idea/tones is super unique and original.. anyone agree?

Thanks guys for all the comments,,, especially the FTW.. it is really nicely put together...

good feedback on the paint... I'd love to get a fork matched... I'll look into this I think... :)

More to come.. :) watch this space.. :)

You cant please all of the people all f the time, and I for one dont like the paint, it kind of reminds me of 'Changing Rooms', and not one of the episodes with both the hotties in (Linda and that MILF woman with the super-tight jeans), but one of the episodes where they have the OTT flouncy guy no one has heard of and the uber-OTT Laurence 'no-way-is-he-straight?!' Llewelyn-Bowen, and one of them tries to do something 'now' and 'outre' to a 3 bed semi in Solihull but they hate it and everyone gets a bit upset.

Still, it is unique I should imagine, and its certainy better than the wood effect 'dales
