Avanti Revolution

Hey there... finally registered so I can put up pics of my bike :D
It's an Avanti Revolution, made in NZ around 1991. i used to race one back in the day until it got stolen :x
First pic is how I bought it, Full Suntour XC LTD group set, still has the original Suntour brake pads! only thing not original is the tyres...
I then wanted to build it up using period style parts to make it better so scored myself a hardly used pair of Rock Shox Judy XC's, Almost new Zoom head stem, A brand new set of Zoom Brahama bars and yeti foam grips. Ditched the pedals for a pair of steel pedals and toe clips just for the looks, want to get some clipless at some stage. Nice ano purple drink bottle cage and a mint find, 2 pairs of Tektro CNC machined canti's never been used! I have 2 ano purple brake boosters to go on it but just need to get some tube washers... and I heard they are making panaracer Dart tyres again! So have to get some of them as well! Well that's pretty much it, ride it all the time and love it!
At the moment i'm in negotiations with getting a very early Cannondale M2000 with full XT groupie including XT thumb shifters :D Only thing is that it has a pair of Mag 21's that have blown up so either try and find some cannondale ridgid forks or put the very old Manitou Answer CNC machined forks on it. Always wanted a cannondale so will make a nice first one.
Also getting a full original mint cond Diamond back, full DX group set, was the reddy colour one with the tiger type stripes on it, not to sure the model.
Looking out for a Klein Mantra or attitude or something as well but they're like hen's teeth his side of the world....

Nice one bro. My first mtb was a 91 Avanti Montari. I nearly traded it for an Avanti Tuatara, but the guy at the shop talked me out of it, got a Peugeot instead. I think there's a guy here in Tas still riding a Tuatara.

After the revolution got stolen I was kinda upset and searched for years for a new one but couldn't find one so got a tuatara... didn't like it as much and got rid of it... stumbled across this for $200! i would have paid alot more for it! but it's great zipping through the forest and along the hills on this. Much better then all the new bikes I had :D

Nice Avanti.....Very retro....

Dont see too many retro Avanti's around.

I owned a Avanti back in 1994 before it got stolen.

Only one of three in the country at that time.

Looking forward to your other builds....

I think the old avanti's are better then the new ones to be honest....
There was one of those frames on trademe not so long ago... almost got it... but forgot the auction ended :x

I prefer the old frames as well.

Never seen another of these frames since mine.....will keep an eye out for one though......

I have an Avanti Shocker in my garage!
I should sell it as it is a large frame and I ride Mediums.
Cool looking bike though.

Hey there,

Bike looks nothing like this now!
Has Mag21's, full M900 hole heap of other bits.

Get some photos of the shocker up!
What sort of condition is it in?

Thats awesome, never seen an E-Stay Avanti before. I think they only got common in Australia by the time they'd gone conventional wishbone rear end.

Ha...I dunno. Big call to make. I've got a 2011 Torrent 3 and well...its a pretty amazing bike. I had a Barracuda, Ridge Rider SL (both '94) and they weren't all that remarkable when new. I think they've just always quietly gone about the business of making solid, reliable fuss-free bikes.

Might have to retract my comment on that one...
Although the Avanti's were awesome back in the day, then they went through a long time where they were just crap.
Although the latest ones aren't that bad, nice looking machines.
