Audi RS4 Avant

In my book you would have to be batshit mental to spend £1k a month on a car. Insane.

Choice seems obvious, buy older 911.

it is easy to make comments like that but if you can afford it, why not.

as for the 911, awesome cars but cant do what an rs4 can

as much as i would love a 911 one day (classic or modern), if i canme into a lot of cash i'd be buying an rs4/6 as they can do everything.

family on board, bikes on the back, surfbaords on the roof, hey ho lets go

I'm not trying to say the RS4 isn't an amazing bit of kit, but if you had a lot of money - that's a different kettle of fish to taking an extra £8k hit of finance to buy a £22k car.

If I came into a lot of cash I'd do the opposite to you and buy a different car for every job, screw driving one car all the time! Wife/kids/surfboards in T2 camper, mates in van with bikes, me down the road in Ariel Atom. That's more like it ;)

What is the attraction to going out and killing yourself in a car with a baby seat in the back? Or a roof rack?

There a literally hundreds of cars I would rather have at that price.

Epic, If I could afford to run a performance car the RS4/RS6 would be it.

Probably worth goingon a few Audi owners forums..they're usually very helpful/useful when it comes to the pros & cons of ownership.

This is exactly why I want an estate car, and yes I'd love a 911.. The RS4 seems to be both, which is great, but I really don't wanna pour money away.. I haven't come in to a lot of money [or even any money!], have just decided that after three years back from Aus, it's time to buy a car  A nice car

If the Audi doesn't suit how about a M5 shooting-brake?

Also been looking at the prices of Alpinas as they do estates..

If you don't hate Mercs then there is an option there. Less of a target for thieves as well.

I have had several that are huge but handle well, at the same time as having as great a ride on the streets of London, country lanes or empty motorway. Yes they are a bit 'common', but there is a reason for that...

The beauty is you can pick a great one up for whatever price you like, 10k would buy you a decent recent E320 CDi Sport.

Then you could buy into a track day syndicate car.
