Are used car prices going up???

Well the car I want is a Legacy 3.0r and they seem more expensive now than last october. I dont do many miles as I cycle to work so figured I could get a gas guzzler nice and cheap. I have an old 2.5 4Cam at the moment and its on its last legs. End of last year they seemed to be around the prices quoted in the car guides. Back in May/June they were around 50% above the guide price and now it they seem to be coming down a bit but I'm wondering if by this october a 54 plate will be as cheap as it was a year earlier. And of course the guide price for that car will be like a grand less than last year too.

Good choice! I've just said bye bye to my old Forester, and replaced it via a tinny french effort, with a Merc E300. Big mistake! I want another Subaru!

I will see them tonight and see what I can get. Its auto, might be an ES model and I think its leather. Blue with smoked alloys.

I know people in the trade say that parkers is a load b****ks but who would actually pay 50% more than the guide price?

The car in that last link has been for sale since last october and has only come down £500 in that time. It's done 2k more miles since then too so has probably been used for running errands. You would think they'd want to sell it wouldn't you. It's along way to go to offer 4k and be told to feck off though

If anyone lives near either of these cars maybe you could go along and offer 3500, get all your mates to do the same over the next week or so and then I'll turn up weekend after next with 4 grand cash

Last october I looked at an '05 with 60k listed at 6 grand and could have had it for 5400 but I tried to get him to chuck in a years tax. He wouldn't so I walked away leaving him with my number. A year on and older ones are more expensive.

I like Z4s, they're really cool. Do they do a diesel version?

I have a Z4 3.0 but I wouldn't really recommend it, it is very unlike any BMW I've owned before and I've had a lot. Its built in America who appear to have low standards. Its stiff, hard and rattles like mad. Crap electric powering steering and I've replaced a ton of stuff. Car has just hit 50k...on the right day, sun out roof down its great but rest of the time its a huge cramped compromise.

Anyway, you can't have a diesel convertible, would you want to listen to it?

Without knowing the car it looks a little unfair, it is below average mileage by a lot and appears to be fully loaded which has to add money.

I've had access to the more pro Glasses guide for a long time and it is always the same story, cars over their values. Just seems to be how it works, if a car has a lack of availability that shoves the price up the books don't reflect that.

I always thought you should pay what you see on Autotrader, if there are 20 cars all around the same price then that is the price regardless of what the books say. You always get a few people way over and there will be no reasoning with them!

The first dealer is local to me, and I once nearly bought a car from him (then I saw it). He often has the same cars for sale elsewhere at much lower prices.
