Are these thumb shifters any good or are they cheap tat?

From memory, Sunrace is cheap tat, kinda stuff you get on £99 pound bikes.

Avoid IMO.
 
Sunrace now own the Sturmey Archer brand but that doesn't excuse or justify this c**p

ps if you can find some 'DNP Epoch 7s' thumbies they are a Deore copy and if you take em apart you will find a '7th click' so they will do 8 speed.
 
They will be OK, they're ultegra shifters put on a bracket to convert them to thumbsifters.

I would just wait around until some good DX or XT thumbies turn up, which they do on a pretty much weekly basis.
 
I've got an old pair, they work fine, surely thats the most important consideration.

I've got higher end Suntour and Shimano thumbies that although made of quality materials are little better than cheapo plastic ones in the performance stakes. Thumbies are very simple things, if they work thats all for the best !
