Classic and rare full suspension mountain bike built by Maverick in USA - the brainchild of the founder of Rock Shox, Paul Turner.
The quality of the frame building is at least on par with the best builders of the time - the frame was built by Klein. Welds are incredibly precise, the cast linkage unit is super crisp and touches like the separate polished seat clamp sleeve, and headbadge with its engraved individual date of manufacture and name just shout out attention to detail.
Front suspension is supplied by the unconventional Maverick SC-32 fork. This features 80mm-125mm adjustable travel and an unique Maverick 24mm Axle Quick release and clamping system.
At the rear, the bike sits somewhere between a linkage and an URT (unified rear triangle). The bottom bracket sits on a single magnesium ‘Monolink’ linkage piece between the front and rear triangle. A custom built Fox shock (coil with an air assist spring) forms the fixed front member of the rear triangle. This delivers no ‘chain growth’ to drag the back wheel down as you pedal and little change in bottom bracket height as the suspension compresses.
The back end is otherwise conventional while the front end uses a custom built Easton tubeset. The seat tube curves up and back which means that as you increase the seat height you increase the effective top tube length.

This is a 17 year old bike so expect some wear and tear, scuffs and scratches - I’ve tried to show the condition in the photos. There’s a bit of surface corrosion on the brake lever clamps, some rubbing marks from cable sheaths and some scratching on seatpost, bars and logos for example. The rear cassette/hub is a bit rumbly so may need a new bearing. Having said that, I think the bike is in fantastic condition for its age, but is sold as seen.
The bike is in full working order, including front and rear suspension, all gearing/derailleurs and brakes.
Its most recent service - including an overhaul of the rear shock was carried out by Rich Hobbs at Mint Cycleworks.
Price: £650
Collection only from Bristol or Wells
