Are the Cool Wall topics too generic??

or the spin one?

yeah that is fair, maybe have one for generic and include more specifice ones as well eg GT and then pyclone... as i'm sure nobody has anything better to do... mr mod, make me a thousand polls to do... :)

Not to be disrespectful, but I would question whether the cool wall is cool.

A 'hand me down' from 3 of the most uncool men on television.

The whole subject matter is irrelevant and uncool!

It's not the objects, more the person that makes things cool. Would Christopher Biggins look cool wearing Steve McQueens clothes and riding his motorbike? NO.

Bit hard on James May, there, weren't you? ;-)

... and on that bomb-shell...

Back to the studio....

Are Shimano Ceramic bearing jockey wheels cool or uncool... you decide...

As a bit of fun its fine as it is, on the recent Marin vote, is there any other way to do it ? Sould we have 'Marin made in 91 and sold no later than august 92 to people called Dave and welded by Frank the Monkey on a friday afternoon with a minimum spec of LX'.

It's only a game. The fact that Raleigh as an mtb brand is adjudged uncool doesn't mean that there aren't cool mtb Raleighs. As John says, if you just discussed whether Sinnett's Raleigh was cool, it wouldn't be a very controversial issue.

Are bib longs cool? Are garage queens cool? Is being an obsessive retrobiker cool? My son says absolutely not. But then, as has been said, the TV cool wall is a measure of what sad people think is cool.

Now see that's the mistake you make - and quite often causes the pretend arguments with the presenters.

The TG Cool Wall wasn't really what they, or their audience thought was cool, per se, it was supposed to represent what Jezza thought discerning non-car nuts would think was appealling - hence his (imagined) Kirsten Scott-Thomas test.

That said, that went wrong when he discovered that she drove a Rover 75. So I think, now, it's probably something like Kiera Knightly - although I'm entirely unsure why...

Point being, though, it wasn't supposed to be about objectively good cars, hence why some very good cars were uncool, it was a contrived percpetion or imagination of what certain others would think.

I don't know about the cool wall. I know it's in the spirit of fun, but for a forum community that has a history of trying not be be judgmental (all the past issues with VRC comes to mind), running this voting contest sure flies in the face of that.

If I owned and loved a Raleigh, I may have a bad taste in my mouth after that voting result. Seemed there was a bit of bad blood going around with the GT results and how that played out as well.

FPWM.

Can't find fault with any of that.
