I think the problem 'stems' (I am so very sorry
) from the necessity for aluminium clamps to be so chunky, so steel or ti (I wish) must be the answer...
Single bolt clamps, despite their inherent bar-fitting woes, are definitely winning out too. Although as I've got a set of tri-bars I'm considering swapping in occasionally that might not be an option

Way too good for me but there you go - will have to pull my finger out and get faster!
Eventually I hope to find the appropriate threaded steel forks, but in the meantime it's coming with some carbon ahead jobbies. Which leaves me with the stem dilemma. The only vaguely appropriate thing in The Box is a Syntace F99, so I'm now considering a fully black/carbon build until I find the correct forks and go fully silver!
But perhaps that's something for another thread...
