Anyone want to display there ride at the cycle show (NEC)

Its going to be one hell of big bike stand if the show is willing to accommodate :), I can foresee a lot of interest, myself included.. And have a few bikes that I would like to display, but it certainly looks like it maybe a case of perhaps showing one bike per retrobiker, or two if someone has a particularly unique or interesting set of bikes, just to give everyone an opportunity in displaying a bike. Just my thoughts...

That would be a great way of putting people off buying new rides from the exhibitors  Sounds like a great idea if you can pull it off and would love to join in but sadly, being a non driver severely limits me transportation wise.

Good luck.

If your stuck, could potentially give you a lift, got relatives up your way, so could visit them..got a large car so can fit a couple of bikes comfortably in...

I think a different bike for each year from, say '86 would be really cool, to see the short evolution over the years! :D Merlin, Pace, GT RTS, Scott Endorphine, Cannondale Super V, Ritchey P21, M2 Team to name a few, to give people an incite where it all came from and give the the kids a chance to see we weren't riding Penny Farthings bitd :D I think this could be a really interesting display!

Why 86?

I think this would be far too limiting, that's around a dozen bikes and will end up as the same old same old. I think the idea is to show just how varied and innovative the Industry was.

A display from 1980 -2000 would be a nice spread, but that's still only scratching the surface... Would be easier just to ask a few on here to show their own collections, as they are bigger than 12 or so bikes. I would suggest getting an area mapped out and filling it with bikes. This is also a show for us retro boys and girls to enjoy, as If I were to hang around a modern bike show for more than an hour, I can't be held responsible for my actions!!

al.

I would agree, it would be very limiting this, how would you choose a bike per year, opinions would be so split, extremely difficult to choose. Probably cause debate/disagreements etc.. it would be a logistical nightmare.. I think display a good spread of bikes (design, technology, brand etc), displaying as many as possible with the space available. So if 100 bikes can be displayed, then display a 100... :)

Be prepared for ridicule.

The whole event is there to generate interest and income in 'new'.

Those trying to flog 'new' may go to extraordinary lengths to mock anything older than five minutes ago.

Hi guys I have a going to send pics specs and stories for each bike and then they will decide on how best to use us and if they can offer us a free of charge space

I feel you have a point.. It does go against the grain... bike shows generally show the innovations of the future... Still wouldn't put me off...

My point to them was to get people cycling and show you do not have to spend 1500 on a bike to get riding and show people there are other options out there were you can have a really cool bike that works well.

And to show the innovated bikes of yester yr and the classics that are still around

Re:

So why do they need a story and a list of bikes for them to be selective about.
They should just trust 'us'.
Personally it's nice to show some weird bikes for fun, but it would be better show everyday bikes that everyday people had and a few bikes that where raced. All that where available easily within the UK.

But then it's not my show to get you to buy the latest bikes with a museum nicity added on.

I could bring one of mine, can't guarantee I'll have them all by then though and may have another 2 or 3 by then  :

This may be restored by then also:
