Anyone know how to open an FD-M952 Mech? To fit over a chain.
Normally there is a screw this seems to have a tiny pin and spring mechanism. Do I just knock the pin out? Seems like another excuse to make me buy yet more tools

I know but my chain tool isn’t great and I personally find that one of the most annoying jobs on the bike... “just a bit more, bit more and oops the pin is on the floor”. Might just be me, but...

Or buy a decent chain tool and just split the chain like 99% of normal people would do. I think maybe youre overcomplicating this.
Or get a Sram or KMC chain that use the Quicklinks so you don't have to worry about pushing the pin out too far?

Its even got a hinge and metal spring on the trap door, so it must be supposed to come apart

Oh and I’m buying a missing link chain as it worked well on my 10spd

I still wanna know why it’s got a sprung door though...
