Anyone into classic cars

Dipping my toe back into the car world after 12 years away from anything interesting.

Is 2009 stretching classic a bit far if it’s iconic ?

R8?

Classy; but not a classic. Love them, but boot space is laughable and had to take one off the list.

I'd need to get a week's worth of luggage in as a minimum, so the R8 just didn't work for me. I really love everything else. Ended up with an F-FType V6S manual with some upgrades. More of a GT, but with probably about 450hp. Had it 5 years and can't see what I'd change it for. Other than a 355 or a 348.

355 was always on my list but prices for a manual red one are high , plus the running costs etc now rule it out.

You could definitely fit a weeks worth of stuff in a R8 with the fitted luggage and items on the shelf so worth a look again.

My old CRX

This^ was the most expensive car i've ever bought.. don't get too excited, it was only £5k, this was back in the late 90s, i'd just come out of a very costly decade of aircooled v-dub ownership so i bought something Japanese and reliable.. a 1990 Honda CRX V-Tec SiR

..alas the photos were stuck together^ .. it's the same as this one

I loved that car.. in those days JP imports were a new thing, you'd only see the occasional Skyline and maybe a 300ZX.. it didn't have full leathers like the UK model, only half leathers but it did have power steering, a full glass roof, 160bhp and air-con behind a flip up button... 'flip up' no less.. which the UK model didn't.
It would rev into next week!.. sadly, i wrecked it.. Huf! that was a puddle of regret
