Anybody use Mr Site

My other-half started her online business with Mr. Site and it was ok for the first 6 months, but then her site outgrew their limitations...

And now it seems there's loads of problems with Mr Site now too, so she went with 'Create' which she really highly recommends...

If you need more details, feel free to pm me,

Here's a calc for website design fees.

I'm getting into design, I know IT and Graphic Design, just learning the development side of things. But, a simple site without online shopping and such isn't very complicated it's just time consuming.

Bespoke graphics, logos etc, take time but then those bespoke graphics can also be used on letterheads and bus. cards for consistency.

Mr Shite Pro is pretty crap. Fine for a quick fix but doesn't allow any creativity.
I like NetObjects Fusion. Simple to use and the end result is decent enough.

Yeh...for business but we only need a window to the shop and for £1000-£1500 everyone seems to want to build a basic 5 page website can buy a lot of stock.

I sorry to say you may have wasted £100 on the 'mr shite' website :(

One thing to consider is that your site is a representation of your business, and people will judge you on it. It is also one of the most important communications tools for a modern business, and if you value communicating with your customers then it may be worth a bit more investment.

In creating a website you have a number of factors to consider (cost).

The way it looks (the design)
The way it works (UI design & platform choice)
The build (who makes it and the technology used)
The URL (the domain name eg. yourcompany.com)
Web hosting space (the computer that has your website on it which allows the world to see it)
SEO & Marketing (how customers find your website)

If you already have logo, colours, typography & imagery sorted out then you could look at building a http://wordpress.org/ site yourself. It's free. There are lots of free and inexpensive templates out there that you can use as a base and modify to your heart's content. You will get as many pages as you want to build, and can also use it to create a blog to communicate with your customers.

You need to set-up your own hosting space, the price of which varies, but if you chose a good company, they can help you install wordpress (or any other CMS you may want to use).

I would advise having an idea of what you want it to look like, the pages and structure of the site and the functionality you require before you start building anything.

It's also worth remembering that a good website can add a lot of value to your business.

Good luck,

Bryan
