Any Specialized M2 S-Works Team Edition experts out there?

I picked up this 1992 S-Works Team Edition frame a week or so ago on FleaBay. Bought it as a complete bike and tore it down this weekend. Here's what it looks like as a bare frame.

I know Ned and co. rode these BITD. I've seen a few of the old marketing ads and I've seen AmyBrooke's (sic?) lovely Ned replica build. I've also seen the pros closet video. All cool stuff, but I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about the serial numbers... in particular, mine. Is it a late run or early? Also, is there any truth to the ad where they said they were only making 500 of 'em?

I'm digging this thread out of years of dust
I also have a 1992 Specialized Stumpjumper S-works M2. Just the frame.
The paint has been removed by a previous owner. It seems it was a black paint, so it might be the normal S-works M2 edition. But I'm not 100% sure about that.

I also struggle to find references about the serial number.

Any help is welcomed

Yeah that's a thing with spesh. Serial numbers are mysterious and vague. This is from their website:
"A serial number does not indicate the size, model, or year of a bicycle. We will not be able to tell you this information with only the serial number. If you do not know the model and year of your bicycle, you will need to find it manually via the photos in the online archive."

At least, for the first gen of S-works the first number seems to indicate the year. But indeed, not easy to decipher the rest of the ID.

The other 1992 S-works M2 found on the web all have in common the 92 T ****-6*
The last * being a letter, not a number
