I'm not an experienced painter, this is the first time I've resprayed an entire frame set, I only did a couple of stems before. I used to make a lot of model planes and tanks when I was a kid though, and really this is just scaling up the weathering and distressing elements of that.Like you, I’m going for a nice frame (KHS Pro) and good bearings made to look a shitter. (Though not with your paint skill,level) Hex bolt skewers are a great idea (especially if not shiny) Luckily I’ve got some 80s nutted wheels; putting a shit lock on and walking away is the moment of truth.
The great thing about aiming for something that looks awful is you can let go of the fear of messing up. I'd struggle to produce the kind of high quality finishes we see lads in here pulling off, but old, worn and rusty - no problem.
It's a lot of fun.
