And today I did......

Look what arrived today!

£10 21.1" BMX diameter Bullmose bars (630mm width, 892 g (!) weight) plus £5 Wald Shim #905 (21.1" to 22.2") - Cheap and cheerful experiment to see if these work visually with the Fat... After Pitlochry, it's really crying out for wide bars, especially if I'm staying single speed, and it'd be nice if I could keep it retro.

So, question for the massive.... Copper-slip on the outside of the shim? And same again on the quill?

nice
cheap too

no copper slip not with the chrome anyway
it'll no be in 1 piece long enough anyway

Didn't know you could get 21.1mm to 22.2mm shims, useful to know ;)

First mtb I ever attempted to buy in 1994 was a very 2nd hand machine with bullmoose bars. I think the seller had just realised it might have been decent and thus came up with a list of reasons it probably wouldn't suit me and I fell for it and bought the Townsend instead. Oh the foolishness of youth

Fitted the big bars to the FAT tonight. Cruiser-tastic, bloody hell it's all sit-up-and-beg, rather than arse-in-the-air - Thinking I'm going to like this. Looks wise... probably a bit ungainly, but I can live with that if it's going to feel good. Will get a better look tomorrow and some pics.

Weighs 892g Andy, so basically an extra pound penalty over the Ritchey stem and bars... think it'll be worth it. Saw those Ti bar-ends earlier too, decent price and should polish up.

trued some snowflake wheels today and was pretty painless

Decided that the saracen would be good with one ring up front and 8 speed at the rear- anyone got some top tips on keeping the front from unshipping the chain? Bash-guard enough or some sort of chain guide?

My Dunkers bike was 1x7 and there were no problems at the front. I just set a nice high tension on the chain length making the rear mech tighter than usual and it all worked fine.
