hope you took all those bike bits out first  what happened ? mot failure ?

The MOT was coming up and I knew it would have been expensive to get it through so I decided to cut my loses. Plus you'll remember me saying
what I wanted was a estate or a van with a tow bracket.

And If you can keep that Girvin bit for me would be great ;)

I have got one to get rid of as well -was going to sell it but ran out of inclination in this weather. Did you actually get anything for it? And if so where?

You mean Diggers near Dalry road? Rumour was it had a line in from the Brewery not true but if you held up 4 fingers at the door 4 pints of 80 would be waiting at the bar when you got through the crowd.

Back in the day the bar in the Diggers was just lots of 80 taps, 1 x Guinness and 1 x lager.

Personally I didn't see the problem with that.

Ah glory days. When I first moved to Edinburgh in 1988 I stayed in Merchiston so Diggers was just a short trot through Polwarth away. It was supremely basic, but the beer was fantastic- never tasted 80 like it since.

Is the beer there still good? I remember it was a free house, but S&N bought it as a flagship tied pub for about a million quid at the start of the nineties, and perversely it declined after that. If there is any cask 80 these days I think it is brewed at the Caley Brewery just along the road, since the Fountain Brewery shut down.

Diggers is a free house again. McEwans don't do cask conditioned 80 anymore so the Diggers management got Stewarts (local brewers) to make a special ale for them called Digger's Heavy and it's pretty damn good stuff.

it's a bloody nice pub :D :D :D

forgot i took this last week
