And today I did......

Fats are not winter hacks (unless you like seat tubes with holes in the bottom)

Totally agree with you here, Fats rust like crazy, wouldn't dare to ride on my Fat now as is.
But someone have done really good job with this frame, it's well preserved from inside and should survive nuclear winter. Just seal her ZZ and don't ride on wet, salty roads and will be fine :)

About components, they are quality, just not correct.

not as rough as Dr's commute but fun was had on the way in today - this was just outside my house - I tried digging out the car but gave up when I saw a stranded touran in the middle of the road further up. Under that snow is about an inch of solid ice. Bike chain is orange just now, bike needs some tlc.

ZZ keep it going. I reckon this one will pull together, My own opinion falls somewhere in between. Some of the best looking FATS are ones that survive through all the 'upgrades' and such, users as it where. I do think the maggies are the wrong choice mind. they are overkill for a singlespeed and lumpy and ugly. A pair of indiscreet cantis would be nicer.

Aye, the maggies are certainly ugly and with the colour they stand out like a sore thumb. No chance on the cantis, but I've been swithering about a set of Vs, I was really impressed with whatever it was Gazz had on his Salsa, quite surprised at how good they felt.

Oh aye, FAT question: What's with the two holes on the bottom of the downtube?

Aye even V's would be a more elegant solution! If the maggies are spare I reckon you could trade em for summat nice.

Strange. Not very well aligned either?? Probably done later. Looks to be too close to BB to be for an extra bottle (as on early Dales). Maybe to fit some sort of aftermarket Bash guard like those fitted to Champion Cruisers and trials frames??

It fit some Rivnuts into them and then fit a couple of nice anno bolts.
