I did say my brake pads got worn out in the audax, and here's the comparison between a new pad and the old.



No wonder my disk brakes performed like rod brakes.

It was very course mud in places. I need new pads but there was point on Sunday I wondered whether I would need new rims.

Sometimes I think I'm a very courageous fellow.

My daughter's Cube Hooper was delivered home a couple of days ago. It's a straight bar hybrid with an Alfine 8 speed. A lovely bike, triple butted tubing and quite light.

I cleaned it, serviced it, polished it and took it for a wee ride, and then thought "This needs a few improvements..."

So a few hours later, a different set of wheels, tyres size gone up to 2" from 32mm, straight bars ditched for short drops, and we have this - my unretro interpretation of a vintage path racer.



And yes, it works very nicely



So what's courageous about that you say?

She's arriving home tomorrow and doesn't know what I've done to her pride and joy.....
