When my two were small I bought a 14ft cabin cruiser (makes it sound grander than it was) with cable steering etc and trailer. Small enough to tow with my old Land Rover and drop in anywhere I fancied. We had many an adventure.

I've been working on Mrs HM re a boat or a motorhome for a couple of years. I want the water she wants the wheels.

Local ride in warm(ish) sunshine. Got a bit excited in country park when i noticed a new sign saying entrance to cycle trail, followed by disappointment when it turned out to be a 30 sec virgin trail marked out with logs, with 3 random wood bridges over nothing. Was a sign at the end asking you to give any feedback to the rangers office, but thought better of it. Suppose they are starting things off, but can't help feeling it was just to keep the community service chaingang busy for an afternoon.

Rob, those both sound lovely, especially the clinker with the Johnson, Great wee engine that one.Had one on the mates parents boat for the tender. Its actually a nice thing to sit and look at. Engines you need, even just moving about, unless you care to row. But nice, havent let on about this before Rob.

This place is truly a gathering of dark horses :?


OH LOVE that ,well i dunno :? Row boat or canyak or a kynoe , but thats a great or pair rather of wee cuddys. I didnt know there was that design for lakes, thought a cabin arrangement would be only in trans type vessels, pressure tight. Not small cabin with he ribs showing. Yeah like that indeed.

Your absolutely right about the Johnson I'd have it mounted in the living room if I still had it, the feel, the smell, the sound. :shock:
I can/could navigate on land or sea using instruments (old school) not mastered electronics yet. And that's a recurring theme in my life I suppose, you could say Retro. Old motorbikes, old boats, old cars, old pushbikes

Had a wee run roond Blairadam this afternoon in the sunshine.
The last 2 nights of rain has returned some of it back to mud after the almost dry run Keith and I had on Sunday.
Did a wee bit of trail maintenance, filled a muddy hole with stones and cleared a short line to avoid another bigger section of glaur.

A quiet day in the home office, built a wheel, watched the tirreno TTT and managed a quick hour on the road before dark. All good

Rob, we had an old school seagull engine when I was a laddie... Lovely thing, it eventually made way to a Mercury when we went from wood to an Orkney long liner :?

Im more lcd screen, well its all there, though i can/if forced do the sighting and chart nav(still got calipers and parallel capt' rule,drawer somewhere) but actual nav ,position,day/night i leave to the pros.
