On that note, the tapered headtube frames i reckon is the way to do it, as you can pick up a new fox or something for it on CRC at 70% off and save a bloody fortune.

I find the 29er seems a lot less cumbersome than the fat bike I tried, albeit briefly

Well, I went for a wee ride at the Meedies, Lochore Meadows for any of our friends fae doon south that are looking in, as a couple of friends, husband and wife, were taking part in the CX races there today.
Rode part of the XC MTB course to get there, absolute mudfest in places, the CX course was much worse. Most of it was laid out on the grassy, well they were beforehand, areas behind the Outdoor Centre and it's carpark plus a small amount of paths.
Not my idea of fun riding round and round and round a muddy field on a course marked out with tape into lanes with umpteen turns. Did see at least one "hurdle" about a foot high that they either got off or did a bunny hop over.
What a load of bollocks, it's no ma cup of tea.
