And today I did......

The reviews on the grub is that is good, chips especially :? Most did think it was overpriced though.

Having once paid £17 for a single burger without fries or drink I can commiserate with you

but the real reason is sitting opposite you in a red sweatshirt  He don't care

Yeah, they put quotes from reviews on the walls saying how good they are!
The chips were nice, but they are cut to around 1.5" long?
Both of our kids love frankfurter sausages, but both refused to eat this one! It's like it's fried to make it rubbery. Similar to how Chinese people cook luncheon meat.
Some of the reviews on Facebook were pretty funny!

Re:

I think I'm probably due you's all a explanation for being a bit distant lately. On the 5th of October my sister passed away after a long illness and the funeral was on the 15th October, she was only 53 and she died from liver cancer. I'm sure there's a few of you know I've had cancer in the past and now I'm due to get open heart surgery, the last few months, weeks have really high lighted our own mortality for me. And please I'm not looking for sympathy I just wanted to explain ..................... no need to reply to this post.

Re:

I was chatting to a couple of mates I haven't seen in an age the other day (both in their 50's), and one said, your 50's are a dangerous age - it's when things can suddenly go horribly wrong, or you get through and live forever.

Of course I laughed and rolled my eyes, as I'm still in my 40's. Now I'm sat in her house dog and cat sitting and I read this, and I have to stop and think.

What can I say? Live every day, etc, etc, but in reality, what do any of us know. Much, much love, thinking of you, and for God's sake - 'get out and ride!'

That wasn't a reply, by the way. Message if you need to chat.

Sad to hear that Rob, condolences and keep the faith. Your still strong and cranking those pedals like a 40 something 8)

Re:

Hi Rob
Sorry to hear about your sister, my condolences, that is a real shi**er regardless of age.
As for the big C, well it seems that that one can hit any of us, at any age, regardless of how healthy we live our lives. Or we can do is try and stay as fighting fit as we can.
Your surgery will be fine and you'll be back to riding like a 60 year old very soon, **sorry 40 year old

As Gmac says, keep the faith.
I am sure I speak for many Macretro clan, but if you need anything, anything at all, just ring or message.

Re:

Took an old friend, the guy I did all my white water canoeing with, Munro-bagging, rock and ice-climbing too, round Blairadam today in the sunshine.
He'll be the first to agree he's not a mountain biker but he enjoyed it a lot. Especially since he was riding a very old Saracen Tufftrax that I build him 20 odd years ago.
It has suspension forks and V-brakes now but it's still going strong.
Did all the trails up to and including the Brick Road and he managed fine. I thought the Chocslide and the Renthal Run would probably have had him off the bike on his face so stayed well clear. Knowing him though he'd have given it a go just so I didn't beat him and there's every possibility if he came out with me again he'll only get better.
He's keen to get one of the other guys we climbed with who was/is a decent mountain biker into Blairadam next time as he couldn't get a hold of him for today. If it doesn't pish doon too much tonight and into next week maybe give it a go with them.

Re:

Eh, which of them are you talking about?

My mate is a year older than me, he was the year in front of me at Uni, the other guy is older than him.
They both still climb to a reasonable standard and are just back from a climbing week in Spain. Lucky auld basturts.
